Are You Sending Spam By Mistake?

Are You Sending Spam By Mistake?

If youre not careful about how you write and format your marketing emails you may discover that a very large percentage are not even reaching their destination. Theyre flagged and discarded by various Spam filters which are becoming tighter on their requirements for what passes as valid email with each passing day.

Even if you get your email through the filters you still need to worry about your readers accidentally flagging your email as Spam.

Dont worry as long as you follow a few basic steps while writing your email you can ensure it does not get flagged by filters and it will be recognized by your subscribers amidst all the real Spam they receive.

1. Always use a double optin mailing list. Using a double optin list is the best way to ensure someone actually subscribed to your list. This type of list involves sending some sort of confirmation email to the subscriber that asks them to confirm their subscription. This way you know for certain that person is the one whom subscribed which ultimately prevents unjust accusations of sending email to someone that didnt ask for it.

2. Choose your subject line with care. This is absolutely vital when youre first building a relationship with new subscribers since they will not likely recognize your name especially if they receive a lot of junk email. You are therefore dependent on the reader opening your email based on the subject line. Its usually a good idea to include the persons name in the first few emails you send since it adds a more personal touch. Or if you run a larger business you can include the companys name in the subject line. The point is to make your email look legitimate so you can take those first few crucial steps in building a relationship with a potential new customer.

3. Clarify your relationship with the reader. This builds on the point listed above in number two and is vital in the first several emails you send. You want to remind them why youre sending the email. Explain to them that they subscribed to your mailing list for whatever reason or that they recently purchased a product from your company and so on. If you send emails more frequently you wont need to do this after the first few times.

4. NEVER rent or purchase an email list. If someone has never heard of you has not requested information from you and has had no previous interactions with you then youre spamming them. This is extremely important. Doing this will be your fasttrack to every email black list on the internet; and when this happens NONE of your emails will get through.

5. Follow the CANSPAM laws. These laws apply to all commercial email and include items such as containing an unsubscribe link in every email as well as including a physical mailing address of the person or company sending the email. It is a good idea to review these laws and become accustomed to writing your emails based around them.

Dont risk being labeled as a spammer. Follow these easy steps to ensure your emails are not accidentally flagged as spam by the filters as well as your subscribers.

Internet Directories And Their Importance

Internet Directories And Their Importance

Internet Directories are nothing but another term for a website. From the point of view of an SEO directories find their prominence in link building to improve your page ranks. Displaying external links on your own website also plays a major role in contributing to the link popularity of your site.

What matters most at the end of the day is the Page ranking that has been attributed to your site. I always keep in mind while embarking on a link building spree that the mere number of links alone does not pave the way for a top slot with major search engines. It is the relevance of your link partner to the site that decides the mileage you had gained from the exchange. What does this mean?

There are directories whose business is putting others links on their pages for a price. They are known as link farms. Search engines are smarter. Such links are considered as spam and the destination directory has all the chances of being classified as a spammer. OK so you decide to avoid link farms and get partners from other directories that are also on the look out for exchange partners to increase their own popularity. Unfortunately that too may not click very well with the search engines. Why do you have to display your link on a site that has content which is totally diverse from your own? And vice versa why have you displayed a link on your pages when the site has no relevance to your content unless you are getting paid for the service?

Therefore if you mean serious business your links should be appearing only on those directories that have similar objectives as you. I was always enthralled at the rankings I had achieved by manual submission. Spend some time looking at the contents of a prospective link partner to find out whether it has relevant content as your site. The time is well spent and the search engines will beam at you.

If you can mange one way inbound links to your pages that is great. It is not a very hard task. Cram your pages with highly informative and original content. This will compel many sites to add your link to their pages as this will tell on their own sincerity for the search engines.

Your posts also need to be well rehearsed and should contain your link along with your important keywords.
